The Action Renewables in association with Norfolkline Irish Sea, 'Northern Ireland’s Green Teacher of the Year 2008' has been awarded.
After much discussion and hard work our judges made a shortlist of green teachers and their schools, all of which showed brilliant work in all sorts of environmental issues:
Primary Finalists
Brídín Ní Dhonnghaile from Bunscoil an Chasistil, Ballycastle
Post-Primary Finalists
Mrs Rusk from Ballee Community College
There could only be one primary school winner and one post primary school winner, so after further research and hard debate from the judges we are proud to announce our winners:
Northern Ireland’s Primary Green Teacher of the Year 2008 is Mrs Kelsall from Killylea Primary School; and
Northern Ireland’s Post-Primary Green Teacher of the Year 2008 is Mrs Rusk from Ballee Community College

Northern Irelands leading renewable energy experts at Action Renewables have teamed up with W5 to create a decision-making exercise where facts, information and expert advice is given to help students make a decision critical to the lives of generations to come. This workshop-style event helps students with their A level Geography by allowing students to enter the tough real life decision-making process that capturing wind energy on a commercial scale demands. The event allows students to take on the roles of various stake holders in this real-life issue, using real information and genuine opinions and with support from the Action Renenwables engineers and education team as well as CEA A level examiners.
