The Delivery Team

Laura Coey
Primary Education Officer

Laura has a Geography degree from Queen’s University of Belfast and a PGCE in Geography and Religious Education from University of Ulster, Coleraine. Laura has spent time working in both primary and post-primary schools in Northern Ireland. In addition to her local teaching experience Laura has taught in Tajikistan and India.

Laura has a keen interest in renewable energy and is enthusiastic about working with local primary schools to educate Key Stages 1 and 2 on the importance of trying to slow climate change through the use of renewable energy and by saving energy.

Adrian McLaughlin
Post-Primary Education Officer

Adrian has a B.Sc. in Science and Technology Management from the University of Ulster, a DAS in International Business from St. Thomas University of Miami, and a PGCE in Post Primary Design and Technology from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff. Adrian began his interest in teaching whilst studying business in Miami, where as a member of the Academic Enhancement Team he offered support and assistance to disadvantaged students in Science, English, and Business related subjects. Adrian’s formal post primary teaching experience has spanned England, Wales and Scotland where he has taught a diverse range of subjects touching all areas of the curriculum from Key Stages 3 to 5.  Adrian returned to Northern Ireland to finish his Masters in Environmental Health, a fascinating and multi-disciplined subject which he brings to the classroom to aid the understanding of Education for Sustainable Development, and brings a practical “hands on” approach to many renewable projects.

Adrian has a genuine passion for holistic education as well as renewable energy technology, and he very much enjoys the challenges of visiting post-primary schools in Northern Ireland to teach and empower Key Stages 3 to 5 on their environmental responsibilities through renewable energy.

"Action Renewables offers free primary and post-primary education programmes to any school interested in receiving support in the areas of renewable energy and its related issues. If you are interested in having an Action Renewables education officer visit your school please get in touch."
